The ideal rental offer: At first glance, everything seems perfect: location, rent, condition and amenities of the flat.
Providing a false identity: Scammers almost always use stolen identities and therefore have a strong interest in avoiding face-to-face meetings. They prefer to communicate via email, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. and use fake passport copies. With the help of a draft rental agreement, they try to pass themselves off as the owner. To remain anonymous, they often use a foreign bank account in the name of a fictitious relative.
No viewings: You are prevented from viewing the property in person or online beforehand.
Scammers will become annoyed easily: If the person reacts angrily when you ask for more pictures, videos or information, it is often not a good sign.
Creating time pressure: You are told that you must act quickly to secure the offer. You are asked to make the first payments (deposit, first month's rent) in order to secure the property.
Data theft: Under no circumstances should you comply with requests to send a copy of your identity card or passport.
